This article presents reflections on the contributions of Popular Education and Agroecology to the reframing of the theoretical and methodological bases of the public policy of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension. The text highlights how the confluences between popular education and agroecology and the implications of these contributions with feminist epistemology have contributed to the equity debate in the context of public ATER. This article aims to analyze the data presented by the Agricultural Census (2017), highlighting the role and performance of women in rural Brazil, their working conditions and the autonomy of rural women. In the context of the research, information regarding the main inequalities related to the sexual division of labor, the role of the feminist and solidarity economy in rural areas and the importance of specific gender public policies for rural women, considering that they are determining factors in rural development based on the generation of work and income, political participation, social inclusion and environmental conservation.
